Pen Street: City Of Poems x Theron Cook Art

Collaboration project with Pen Street: City Of Poems This is an unfinished abstract surreal styled painting that consists of selected images ideas & concepts that were inspired by the poem titled:
”Working For The Opposition” by Nelson De La Cruz
One of the main lines from the poem that sparked my creativity is: “The frames of the wind flicker between scenes positioning you to play your part. Unapologetically
From reading this line I began the visual storytelling. Creating a vibe & or mood with the idea of Morning Noon & night 24 7 concept I choose the images and concepts that work as metaphors for the word play & perspective of the writer, capturing the meaning and message of the poem. By creating a abstract surreal #24 #7 as the main attraction to the painting hoping to achieve a sense of the daily cycle, daily grind, daily battles & daily choices of a person facing conflict of interest in their own mind. One example of the images that I choose to make up the main image as a metaphor is the roll of (money) wrapped in a rubber band. Representing the fruits of labor. The resistance becomes toxic when the time energy & work that you sacrifice for money isn’t aligned with your peace & growth. Other images I incorporated: water, tree, wheel, rose, bubble, clouds, lotus, human figure, & a few other images within. You can use your imagination to put together your own interpretation or version of the painting by identifying images that you see within the painting. Hope you Enjoy! Thank you!
