It all started when…
My story began with a love for art. As a kid, I drew everything from Ninja Turtles and the Wu-Tang Clan symbol to Mortal Kombat characters and bubble letters. Although basketball was my first passion, an unexplained foot condition forced me to pivot. This setback led me to art, which became my passion and therapy. I discovered that art allowed me to express myself and find the discipline I once found in basketball. My father recognized my enthusiasm and asked me to create a sign for his peanut business, marking the start of my serious artistic endeavors.
High school deepened my connection to art, especially when a teacher introduced me to a technique of creating from scribbles. This method, combined with my spiritual upbringing—my father was a preacher—infused my work with deeper meaning.
After high school, I pursued art education in Philadelphia. I started with illustration but switched to advertising and design after discovering art history's spiritual dimensions. This led to an internship with Vibe magazine, an experience that opened my eyes to the business side of art.
The journey was intense. I balanced multiple jobs, a demanding commute, and health challenges, including a diagnosis of asthma and blood clots in my lungs. These health scares were wake-up calls, pushing me to prioritize my well-being and spiritual connection.
Post-college, I co-founded TAP and Mute magazines, exploring music, art, fashion, and technology. Despite initial successes, the ventures faced challenges, prompting me to learn new skills in clothing design and screen printing. This led to the "Mute the Ha8ter" campaign to revive Mute magazine.
Living in New York exposed me to the art world’s intricacies. I started live painting, body painting, and ventured into UX design. I created "Butterfli3ffect" to reflect my transformation from an introverted caterpillar in Pennsylvania to a confident butterfly in New York. This journey inspired a series of 33 butterfly paintings, each depicting different concepts.
Today, I integrate my artistic skills into business ventures—designing watches, sneakers, and toys, conducting workshops, and developing tech innovations. My motto is simple: Don’t quit. This journey is about perseverance and transformation, embodying the essence of Metamorphosis.
